Who got a new Pizza Oven ?

Lucy – For those of you who know me, you will be well aware of the fact that I have always wanted a wood fired pizza oven… When we lived in the country I bought a book on how to build a wood fired pizza oven. Strategically placed it in front of Sawusband to no avail! On a random trip I bought a long handled Pizza paddle with no Oven to use it in.
Then we moved to the city. You guessed it campers after years of consistently bringing up a wood fired oven I could feel  he was starting to be worn down (plus I have been showing him pre-fab ovens so all we would have to do is strategically place it on the deck)

Well the day has arrived campers. It doesn’t run on wood (no one in the family thought it a very good idea to be lighting fires on the balcony) who was I to argue, so alternatively it runs on gas!

Being super excited it is time to take it on a test drive.
 who's a little Jumbuck
You are!

Today I will be making a Rosemary & Sea salt Focaccia
After kneading the dough for 10mins

Let it rise for 2 Hrs
Then knock it back, put in the tray it will be cooked in & let rise again for 1 hour
Poke 1cm deep holes in it with your fingers & let it rise for 45mins
add rosemary, sea salt & loads of olive oil
Time to go into the oven.... 25 mins @ 225C
 Ta Da! IT WORKS!

 Belissimo

Next on todays agenda we are making Basil Pesto, I have way to much basil in the garden & I don't want it to go to waste.

BASIL PESTO
For this I will be using a cookbook given to Sawusband & I as a thank you present from Andrew & Gusbands wedding.
Yes, I am cheating, I'm using the blender.
Oh & having the compulsory glass of wine whilst cooking.
In this recipe they don't toast the pine nuts
Looks so fresh & green (the wine is great as well) I think i'll serve it with pasta
And some prawns simply cooked with smoked salt & pepper.

Well that's it for todays Pizza Oven test.
STAY TUNED, Next time i'll be trying my secret recipe for pizza dough!
I might let the recipe slip.

Happy Cooking Campers.

Andrew - Wow! I can't believe the day has finally arrived when you got that bloody oven. You have been talking about this for years. I can't believe Sawusband didn't build you one (with all his free time) what a slacker. I can see you both now cooking up a storm and sitting outside wine in hand. Quite similar to the way you were before you had the oven actually.

So now Sawusband doesn't have to make an oven for you have you got another project up your sleeve for him? Surely you do. It was so much handier for us when you only lived down the road. Save Gusband and I a piece of focaccia, we're on our way. xx
